An absorbing, wide-ranging programme of solo harpsichord works by JS Bach which takes a particular delight in the unusual, the intimate, and the overtly expressive. It includes Bach’s ‘other’ variations, less well known than the Goldbergs, haunting and equally thrilling, and his intriguing collaboration with the celebrated lutenist Sylvius Leopold Weiss. One of Gustav Leonhardt’s transcriptions (of the much-loved violin Partita in D minor) is complemented by works from The Well Tempered Clavier. Robin Bigwood is a renowned harpsichordist who has worked with Feinstein Ensemble, Passacaglia, London Baroque, Florilegium and Kings Consort.
